Nevado del Ruiz: Ongoing Volcanic Activity Under Watch

The Servicio Geologico Colombiano (SGC) continues to monitor and report eruptive activity at Nevado del Ruiz. Through late May and into early June, instruments recorded seismic events tied to fluid movement and rock fracturing inside the volcano.

This is an ongoing watch, not an emergency: no evacuation has been ordered. Travelers and residents near the volcano (parts of Caldas and Tolima) should avoid the upper park and crater area, keep ashfall masks on hand, and check the SGC bulletins for the current alert level before any visit to Los Nevados National Park.
